Matthew Wayne Lawrence Graham was the first born November 3rd, 1982 a Wednesday at 2:12 am at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Shortly after his family moved to Kirkland Lake, Ontario and he grew up there with two brothers 3 years younger and 6 years younger. At the age of 10 his family and him moved to Peterborough, Ontario. He joined a kids church choir with his brother, where he learned to sing and was on his first radio commercial for the city of Peterborough.
What started as a passion at the age of 13 on a Fender Strat, he bought with money from his paper route, turned into a life outlet to express himself in music. One of the first songs he ever learned was Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. Although Matt was always a good student he would a lot of the time sit in his room saying he was doing his homework and play guitar with his head phones on. Learning different songs on the guitar by artists like Jewel, Nirvana, Live, Greenday and the Smashing Pumpkins to name a few. The first performance he ever did was in his grade 11 drama class and he played TIme of Your Life by Green Day for a few classes. After writing the song Life shortly after at the age of 16 (you can hear it on this site) he kept playing and writing. The last few years of high school he was more into working out and woman at that age.
Let's fast forward a couple years so he went to college in Niagara Falls at Niagara College where he finished an advanced diploma in Business Operation Management all the while flying back and forth to Whistler for the summers. He kept writing and practicing his music and some of the basement demos are song he wrote during this era. He did open mics and tried to get exposure. In 2005 he moved into a house in Whistler on Drifter Way where he met Darren Chambo who would form The Chambo Graham Show with him. After doing more open mics and getting out there Matt finally got a change to host his own show and invited Darren to be a part.
They started playing shows in Whistler around 2006 in a duo called The Chambo Graham Show. They played at the bottom of Whistler mountain to the masses when skiers and snowboarders would ride to the bottom, in weather -40 to +40 through the elements at a Coffee Shop called Behind the Grind. Some days it was so cold out they would have two heat lamps on beside them to play. In 2007 they played the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler the largest outdoor free concert series in North America and opened for the Canadian rockers The Trews on opposite stages.
After countless interviews, performances and radio shows Matt went solo as Graham Show for the Olympics in 2010 where he did 12 performance at the games and got on international exposure. His middle brother helped him on the djembe and they brought the shows to the events at the Olympics. The stories go on. In 2011 he moved back to Peterborough for friends and family.
In 2011 he recorded a handful of songs at a studio in in Peterborough. Shortly after Matt made his home studio at the recording quality of 24 bit 192khz, in his basement. He recorded some more music that ended up on the EP's. In 2018 he signed a 5 year distribution deal with Sonorus Records through Universal Music without giving up his rights to his master tracks. In 2020 during covid as a hopeless romantic he recorded a single When the Stars align with a Grammy award winning drummer on on it. It was about finding love and he was looking to settle down. His goal was to manifest his soul mate. Unfortunately God had different plans and he is looking for that special someone that goes beyond money and fame to this day. Love is about getting to know everything about that person and loving them for who they are, in every way, maybe one day yet he'll have a family and find that someone.
That takes us to 2026 he is back at it recording a studio full length album for the Spring of 2027. The first single is due out Christmas 2026 called One of a KInd about love and engagement that didn't work out and takes on a country alt rock feel. Stay tunes for whats next.
